Grand Rapids, MI. Five-piece indie rock band. Stay Hacky.

The Hacky Turtles’ quirky yet memorable name has grown from a Chicago transplant to a staple of the West Michigan music scene. Since returning to their home state in 2016, the group has released two new studio albums and delighted audiences with energetic live performances, sold-out shows and earworm tunes with a focus on mental health and self-care. The overall sound of the group is simple yet familiar, with spanky guitars, thundering drums and electrifying lead vocals. RIYL: Rainbow Kitten Surprise, Kings of Leon

About our latest singles:

True to form, these two new singles are deeply emotional, encouraging awareness, growth, and community, while maintaining the polish and hooks that keep The Hacky Turtles on repeat. Unlike the release of Dichotomy (2021), which boasted 12 hard rock/ pop bangers including the sleeper hit “Fizz”, these new singles are more subdued and relate to the acoustic origins of the group when they were jamming on the farm in Traverse City, MI.

“The Low Before” is one of the oldest original tunes from the band that has remained unreleased until now, and also features, for the first time, vocals from all 5 members of the group. “Hold On” showcases a beautiful string section performed by Savannah Buist (violin) and Katie Larson (cello) of The Accidentals, and serves as the band’s very first studio collaboration. Recorded and mixed at Social Recording Company (Michigander, Leland Blue, Brother Elsey) and mastered by Mike Cervantes. The Hacky Turtles are self-managed and independent.
