The Hacky Turtles hail from Grand Rapids, MI. they have been forged from the gritty wilderness of conifer and deciduous guardians covering the lush inspiration and beauty of an older way of life. harboring an eclectic recipe of alternative funk/rock, friends since the recklessness of their youths, these troubadours have shared a soul bond and a common passion for both the love of music, and the performing of it. they are the brothers of the lake water, notorious tamers of the tapping toe, wranglers of the funky feet movers, minions of the night and embracers of the day.

What’s new in 2025?

“Stay Hacky” is a simple phrase, and one that articulately sums up the ethos of Michigan's own Hacky Turtles, who don't take themselves too seriously but have a message to share.

The five-piece have earned attention with their funky rock rhythms, characterized vocals, and electric live performances. Voted a finalist of Grand Rapids Magazine's "Best Bands'; they not only engage their fans at the gig; listeners keep the Hackys on repeat with lighthearted earworm bops to dance to, tracks that showcase relatable vulnerability and introspection, and passages on mental health awareness.

Following the online success of the 2020 sleeper hit Fizz, the Hackys released the new EP Cold Press in anticipation of a full-length album. The first single off their new album, Rat Clock, has a brain-tingling arrangement and imagery expounding on the fears of being a first time parent. The Hacky Turtles are self managed and independent.
